Two Steps From Hell was formed back in 2006 when Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix joined forces to write original music for movie trailers. 12 years later, TSFH has been featured in hundreds of movie ads, including some of the biggest blockbusters of recent time, as well as thousands of TV ads and programs. TSFH released their first public album, Invincible, in 2009, establishing epic music as a new and unique musical genre. There are now 14 public albums and millions of fans worldwide. Look for concerts in 2019.

Thomas Bergersen was born in a small town in Norway and has spent his whole life living and breathing music. He is a multi instrumentalist, proficient on piano, violin, trumpet and various other musical instruments. Thomas is best known for his work for his company Two Steps From Hell which he co-founded with his American partner Nick Phoenix. Several of his albums have reached platinum status and he has millions of followers world wide. Thomas is self taught both in composition, orchestration, production and on the various instruments he plays. His music has been featured in countless Hollywood productions, concerts and international productions.

Nick Phoenix (born 1967) is a London-born composer and a co-founder of the production music company Two Steps from Hell. He has written music for a number of high-profile trailers, with over 1000 noted scores and placements in total.Since 1997, he has been involved in composing film trailer music and producing virtual instrument libraries for EastWest Sounds.In 2006, he formed Two Steps from Hell with his business partner, Thomas Bergersen, and the two publicly released the album Invincible in 2010. Several additional commercial album releases have since followed, including Archangel and SkyWorld, each of which has charted on the iTunes top 100 in the Soundtracks category. Phoenix also performed in a 2013 live concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall alongside Bergersen, confirming at least one future concert planned for Europe.
Story

Sleuth : Possibly exceeds previous albums, its that good!

As I anticipated the release of Unleashed I had high expectations but wondered how a new album could top or even be as good as their previous works such as Battlecry and Vanquish. I was worried Two Steps from Hell would try some new sound or style and botch the album. I am so glad I was wrong. Unleashed not only meets the quality of previous amazing TSFH albums but may even exceed them.
Thomas’ songs are amazing. The album starts with the song “Unleashed” and does not disappoint. I would compare this song to Pegasus from Vanquish. It start slowly but crescendoes beautifully. Definitely 5/5. Next by Thomas is “Impossible”. I like to think he named the song Impossible because he got the grand idea to do the impossible – namely mix all these instruments and musical styles that seem incongruent with each other, yet he did so and composed one of the best songs I have ever heard by TSFH or anyone for that matter. Again 5/5. Other songs by Thomas I would rate 5/5 include Run Free, Never Give up on your Dreams, Molto Piratissimo, and Secret Melody. Thomas’ compositional abilities are phenomenal. With many of his songs there is a type of musical experience phenomenon. The music is beautiful, causes goosebumps, and creates a sensation of elation and absence of worry in the listener. It is truly a beautiful, fun, soothing experience.
Nick’s songs on this album fit more into the genre of trailer music unlike Thomas’ which are more diverse. They are still catchy and I find myself humming his songs often. A few standouts include Final Days of Rome, Descendants of the Sun, and Emblem. I also quite enjoy “I’ll Stand Alone” which has English lyrics and is one of the few TSFH songs with English lyrics I enjoy listening to.
This album may be my absolute favorite from TSFH. If you like trailer/epic/neo-orchestral music then you will enjoy this album for sure.

If you like happy and joyful music this is a good album for you, sprinkled with a couple contrasting but more mournful tracks that are also lovely in their own way.
